If you missed the Cash for Clunkers program, or if you didn’t need or want a new car, you still have a chance to take advantage of a new economic stimulus measure: Cash for Appliances. The Energy Department is making nearly $300 million in federal stimulus funds available for consumers to replace their old, inefficient appliances.
Look for Energy Star qualified home appliances. Those are appliances that, according to testing, are at least 10% more energy efficient than standard models.
